Media and PR Officer, £24-26k, London

Our client is a multi-faceted, expanding trade association
recently formed through the merger of two organisations.
They are the largest professional society of their kind in Europe with offices
in London, Beijing and Hong Kong.
Our client inspires young people, government representatives, policy makers and
the public concerning technological and engineering innovation.
This is a great opportunity for you to have real input in the overall
development of this new organisation. In two years the world faces a deficit of
1.7 million ICT engineers, it’s a problem facing the likes of NASA, BT and
Cisco.
You will be part of a worldwide team involved in promoting scholarship courses
and inspiring young people to fill them. You’ll also assist the Government in
addressing technological issues.
In this role you will manage your own projects, support colleagues’ campaigns
and participate in public awareness activities. You’ll also be involved in
developing and managing relations with key media.
Within the press office you’ll be given the chance to take a creative approach
in identifying PR opportunities, developing stories and writing news releases.
Here you’ll also liase with relevant staff, external organisations and
agencies to support the development of a media and public relations strategy.
Candidates must have previous experience as a PR practitioner, either agency or
in-house. They will enjoy a variety of engaging tasks spanning from managing
budgets to selling in news releases to elements of sponsorship, public affairs
and internal communications.
Experience of media in the IT, engineering and technology sectors or of public
affairs activities is advantageous.
Full PC literacy with a good understanding of electronic media is also valuable.
